Greetings from the president
Japan Foundation for International Tourism(Jafit) was founded in April 1993 by the scholars on tourism at educational institutes and leaders in the international tourism industry for the purpose of promoting the development of international tourism.
The number of Japanese overseas travelers has been increasing year by year since the liberalization of overseas travel in 1964 and has reached to nearly 18 million recently. On the other hand, however, the number of foreign visitors to Japan has just exceeded 7 million and much more aggressive efforts are expected to better the situation.
The tourism industry is now increasing its importance worldwide with the development of leisure and affecting a lot in cultural exchange and other business fields also, not to mention direct effects on tourism industry alone.
Jafit aims at contributing to a desirable development of international tourism through the educational-industrial collaboration by creating and promoting both basic theory and business technique.
We welcome you to join Jafit.
