Greetings from the president
The tourism development in our country has been expected to achieve a rapid progress since The Japan Tourism Agency was launched in October 2008. To change Japan as a tourism-oriented country and vitalize local areas is a big aim of the New Development Program by the Japanese Government. The target of Inbound Market is to receive 25 million foreign visitors a year by 2020 and more 30 million should not be a dream in the future. On the other hand, 20 million Japanese overseas travelers are expected in Outbound Market.
International exchange programs and activities are now widely seen in the local and civilian levels in addition to those by the government. Along with the plans to develop Asian markets, the open sky policy is now being introduced and metropolitan airports are increasing their facilities. The deregulations of air fares, charter flights, and LCC are now rapidly increasing its materialization.
Japan foundation for International Tourism(Jafit) was founded in April 1993 as a joint project by the scholars on tourism and the leaders in tourist industries to pursue the collaborated study and promotion of international tourism.
In order to widen and deepen the study of international tourism, we sincerely wish and welcome you to join our Jafit.
